You know, it took me 12 yrs, but last night, it finally hit me: "Power Rangers"?!!

I mean, what the Hell is a "ranger"? Yeah, you've got park rangers and all, but find me one person who thinks they're cool (Hanna-Barbera employees excluded)! How are you gonna market "rangers as coolness" to kids?

"Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers"? How did something so unnecessarily convaluted become a household name?

Everyone knows that cops are where it's at. Especially badass cops!

"Quick-Change Power Cops" has a MUCH better ring to it!

I can hear the kids in the schoolyards now:

Kid #1:"Hey, did you see QCPC yesterday?!! Those cops are badass!"

Kid #2:"Word, Kid #1! Hey, isn't that Michael Jackson behind those bushes?"

Someone, please tell me why I'm not working in advertising...

  I'll try and shed a little light here. I'm not saying this is right, but I think its a good theory. See Will, you were never a D&D kid were you? Rangers in D&D were always some of the coolest characters because in addition to being great with archery and decent with a sword, they had the ability to tame and control animals. So MMPR probably got its name because it was similar to the Japanese name where D&D and RPG style things are much bigger than here. It's likely that the word is not even similar to ranger in Japanese, but that may have been the closest translation and since they all transform into animals (they do transform into animals right?) it just made sense to keep it that way...
